James Conant (Chester D. Tripp Professor of Humanities, University of Chicago)
'Two Conceptions of the Linguistic Turn'
Abstract: The lecture will explore and contrast the sense in which Wittgenstein is usually credited with being the initiator of (something which gets called) “The Linguistic Turn” with the sense in which he may be properly credited with having initiated a Linguistic Turn in the history of analytic philosophy.
Location: Room 507, John Freely Building
James Conant is of course a very well know philosopher, particularly noted for his work on Wittgenstein, aesthetics, history of analytic philosophy, and German philosophy.
